Minneapolis
This modern day metropolitan city was developed in the late 1850s at the valuable waterpower site of St. Anthony Falls. It grew rapidly in the 1880s to k lead the nation in both flour milling and lumber milling. Visitors can enjoy a lovely walking tour of the riverfront which includes the spectacular Guthrie Theater and Mill City Museum. Meander a bit off the Great River Road where it intersects with the Grand Rounds National Scenic Byway to tour the nation's only urban scenic byway through the heart of Minneapolis.
